CCG Script Development
“A movie should only be made when the script is at its best. To that end, we’ve enlisted invited colleagues, actors, critics and guests to help us analyze our Chris and the Coffee Girl screenplay. Our table reads aim to serve the script… and ultimately we have a great time!”

“The March table read showed me that the script had come a long way as far as character development for Chris. Ultimately, however, that draft read like “character analysis and research” notes to self as an Actor (playing Chris) rather than as a fast moving screenplay. The day after this table read, I was able to edit eight pages out of the script. It took a while longer to tweak the script and bring the funny back.”

“Our June 14 table read re-introduced the initial goofball humor of CCG, while also streamlining the story, even eliminating a few superfluous characters. We got much more laughs per page, while some readers thought our romance development was still an issue. We had a spirited debate about the balance of comedy and romance in our script. Certainly, this gives me a lot to work on as a writer. For both reads, we fill the room with highly intelligent, intuitive and creative people… so there is bound to be various opinions about the script. I love the feedback!” – Mike Messier Writer/Director/Actor
